Mission Statement
The SSCM Athletic program provides an instructional sports program for students in grades 4th, 5th and 6th and a competitive sports program for students in grades 7th and 8th as an extension of the academic program. The extra-curricular athletic program will be available to all students and will follow a “no-cut” policy providing available resources.
Participants will learn fundamentals of each sport, in addition they will be provided the opportunity to develop effective skills and values, specifically:
• Sportsmanship
• Fair Play
• Team Spirit
• Leadership
• Discipline
• Respect
• Health Conscious Behaviors
Program Support
The athletic program coaching staff is comprised of volunteers. They include parents and grandparents of the students, young men and young women who are alumni of SSCM School and those who have dedicated years to the athletics program. Our interscholastic athletic program appreciates all volunteers support as their dedication is vital to the program’s success. All volunteers are both Virtus and Youth Safety Concussion Certified. Those interested in participating as a coach volunteer may submit the Coaches Letter Intent Form: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7aWj6JdbI64VHFHTGVtT3VGc3M
or contact our Athletic Director Bob Villasenor directly.
Athletic Commission
The athletic commission acts responsibly by providing a selection process for coaching assignments and setting guidelines for the coaching staff that guarantees their professionalism. The commission members have the responsibility to operate the program and raise the necessary funds to insure that the goals of a quality and competitive athletic program are achieved. These funds are to be used strictly for the procurement of the athletic equipment, supplies and activities related to the athletic program. Most important is the parental support given to the athletic commission, for without it, the program could not survive.
