Robotics Club

The SSCM Robotics Club Competition Group is preparing for another season and

We Want You to join us.

The SSCM Robotics Club uses the LEGO Mindstorm Robots to solve challenges inspired by real world issues in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The students will build and program the robots to interact and solve problems as we prepare for competition.

Students must be in grades 4 through 8 to participate.

We meet in Sivore Hall one day a week immediately after school.  Our meetings typically run 2 hours (pickup at 4:30 p.m.).

The group will once again participate in the First LEGO League challenge, with a competition in mid-December.  More details on the competition can be found at www.usfirst.org.

NOTE: This is not a LEGO club.  Though we use LEGO products, our focus is on learning how to apply scientific principles to solve problems and apply learning n a competitive setting – the hardest fun students will ever have.  However, this may not be the right club for students who are primarily interested in LEGOs.

Parent volunteers are needed.  We need parents to volunteer to stay at the meetings.  A technical background is not required.  We want to make sure we have adequate adult coverage to meet VIRTUS program requirements.  All volunteers must successfully complete the VIRTUS, Protecting God’s Children before attending.
