Reading Newsletter:

This week our class will be focusing on how life is different today than it was long ago. We will discuss how toys have changed and how transportation has changed, as well as how these changes affect our lives today.

Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.

Word Workout

  • Words to Know Help your child use the words to make up sentences that tell a story about long ago.
  • Spelling/Phonics: long o and long u Your child will raise one hand if he or she hears a word with long o sound, and raise both hands if the word has a long u sound. This week’s phonic sounds are long o and long u, as in lone and cute.

Comprehension: compare and contrast

Help your child compare and contrast ways children traveled to school long ago with today.

We are reviewing this years activities and will complete some mini in class assignments for a grade.

We will be discussing synonyms, antonyms, and homophones.
